Who we are

We are a UK grantmaking trust, registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (registered number 200198).

What we do

We help UK charities to meet their charitable objectives by awarding grants to them. We focus our grantmaking on the Bristol area.

What personal information do we collect and how do we collect this information?

The personal information we collect includes an individual’s name, position in their organisation / job title, and their contact information including email address and telephone number. This data is collected from information you provide when applying for a grant or when you provide a report to us on your organisation’s activities. We may also collect information that you provide to us by email, letter or telephone.

Except for the above and information on public record (eg from the Charity Commission or your organisation’s website) we do not obtain personal information from any other source.

Why we need to collect, store and use your personal information

The information we collect and store is necessary to make reasonable assessments including due diligence checks when considering awarding grants and when contacting you regarding any grant we may have awarded.

We are committed to ensuring your personal information is secure and we will not keep personal information for longer than necessary.

The Nisbet Trust receives grant applications via online forms built using software owned by Formstack. Formstack’s software complies with the EU-US Privacy Shield and Swiss-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework. Formstack data remains private and the responsibility of the individual or organisation creating the form; and Formstack give their assurance that they will never view, access, sell, or distribute it to a third party. All personal information is securely stored in our Salesforce cloud-based grants management database. Salesforce has robust security measures in place that meet the highest standards in the industry. Salesforce gives an undertaking that it will not review, share, distribute, or reference any of its customers’ data, unless it is required to do so by law.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you the right to:

  • access your personal information held by us
  • have your personal information held by us rectified
  • under specific circumstances, have your personal information held by us erased
  • object to the processing of your personal information based on legitimate interests
